Actions & Indications:

主治﹕

For expelling watery phlegm, rid of parasitic worms and fungal infection of skin, stop itchiness. For treating: strokes, scabies,  eczema. Usually for external use. Smash and apply. If taken orally, be aware it is very toxic and must be used with care.

涌吐風痰,殺虫療癬,燥濕止痒。治中風,疥癬,濕瘡。外用:搗爛涂敷患處。如內服須防中毒。

Toxicity & Cautions:

毒素與禁忌﹕

According to the book, "Southern Area Toxic Vegetation", the leaves, the roots and the seeds are all toxic. The poisoning symptoms include: poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, difficulty in  breathing, skin bruising, circulatory failure and oliguria, and eventually  hemolysis, hematuria, and gradually respiratory suffocation and death may happen. Treatment methods include vomit inducing, gastric lavage, catharsis, and injection of saline or 5% glucose solution; prevent heme deposition in the kidney or take 5 to 15 grams of baking soda per day. If hemolysis is severe with respiratory difficulty,  use oxygen, a small amount of blood transfusion and the use of CNS stimulants, and artificial respiration. "

《南方主要有毒植物》:"相思豆,葉,根,種子有毒,以種子最毒。中毒症狀:表現為食欲不振,惡心,嘔吐,腹痛,腹瀉,呼吸困難,皮膚青紫,循環系統衰竭和少尿,最後出現溶血現象,尿血,逐漸呈現呼吸性窒息而死亡。解救方法:催吐或洗胃,然後導瀉,並注射生理鹽水或5%葡萄糖鹽水;防止血紅素或其產物在腎中沉澱,可每日服小蘇打5~15克;如溶血嚴重並有呼吸窒息現象時,要給氧,小量輸血及使用中樞興奮劑,行人工呼吸。"
