Distribution:

分 佈 ﹕

throughout Southern China, especially Sichuan

分 佈 於 中 國 南 方 ﹐ 尤 其 是 四 川 。

Properties (characteristics)﹕

性 味 ﹕

bitter, slightly sweet, cold.

味苦辛微甘,性涼。

Channels (meridians) entered:

歸經﹕

liver, gallbladder, kidney,  bladder.

歸肝、 膽、腎、膀胱經。

Actions & Indications:

主 治 ﹕

  1. promotes urination, expels stones in urinary and bilirary tracts.

  2. Clear infection in liver and gall bladder,

  3. snake bites, insect bites, abscess, scalding injuries.

1.用於熱淋、石淋,肝膽結石。
2.用于濕熱黃膽。
3.用于瘡瘍腫痛,蛇蟲咬傷、燙傷等症。

Medical Function:

藥 理 ﹕

1. diuretic and expels stones of urinary tract

2. promote secretion of bile; expels stones

3. improves circulation

4. anti bacteria

5. anti inflammatory

Chemical ingredients:

化 學 成 份 ﹕

whole plant contains phenols (酚), sterols (固醇), flavones (黃酮), tannins (鞣質), essential oils (揮發油) and cholines (膽鹼).

Six different chemicals have been isolated from the flavones: quercetin, quercetin-e-O-glucoside, kaempferol, kaempferol-3-O-galactoside, kaempferol-3-O-lysima-chiatroside, 3, 2', 4', 6'--tetrahyhdroxy-4-, 3'-dimethoxychalcone,  and inorganic salt of NaCl KCl.

全 草 含 ﹕ 酚﹐ 固醇﹐ 黃酮﹐ 鞣質﹐ 揮發油﹐ 膽鹼。

 

Dosage:

用 量 ﹕

16 to 60 g

16 ~ 60 克 。

Samples of formulae:

處方舉例﹕

  1.  For damp heat jaundice: jin qian cao, yin chen hao, zhi zi, hu zhang. 

  2.  For getting rid of stones in the urinary tract: use large dosage of jin qian cao to make tea or combine with hai jin sha, jin nei jin , hua shi.

  3. For boils or snake bites: make juice using fresh jin qian cao for drink and use the solid externally.

 

  1. 濕熱黃疸: 金錢草,茵陳蒿梔子虎杖

  2. 石淋熱淋: 金錢草單用大劑量煎湯代茶飲,或與海金砂、雞內金、滑石同用 。

  3. 惡瘡腫毒、毒蛇咬傷: 可用鮮金錢草搗爛取汁飲,並以渣外敷。

interstitial cystitis

Modern Application:

1. for non bacterial infection of bile tract.

2. for hemorrhoids

3. for erysipelas (丹毒) herpes zoster (帶狀庖疹)

4. anti-dotes for Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. f. (lei gong teng 雷公藤).

Cautions:

禁 忌 ﹕

This herb seldom causes side effect. Long term large usage can deplete potassium and can cause dizziness and palpitation because of its diuretic effect. This can be corrected with intake of food with higher potassium. It is advisable to monitor potassium level with blood test in long term usage.

In rare occasions, decrease of blood cells had occurred but recovered after stopping the administration of the herb.

Use caution in case of tumors with diarrhea due to pixu condition.

本 品 很 少 有 副 作 用 。 長 期 服 用 能 使 鉀 流 失 以 至 眩 暈 ﹐ 心悸因 為 其 利 尿 作 用 。 可 以 多 吃 含 鉀 高 的 食 物 ﹐ 以 補 充 流 失 的 鉀。 如 果 長 期 服 用金 錢 草 ﹐最 好 常 常 檢 驗 血 鉀 。 如 有 需 要 可 以 及 時 補 充 。

凡陰疽諸毒,脾 虛 泄瀉者,須慎服
