Gynecomastia
Edited by : Joe Hing Kwok Chu
Excessive development of the male breasts because of over development of
mammary glands. Sometimes the function of female mammary glands can also appear. A
common cause of gynecomastia is the increased ratio of estradiol and
testosterone in older men. Temporary enlargement of the breasts is not unusual or abnormal in boys during
adolescence or during recovery from malnutrition. Gynecomastia may be abnormal
as, for example, in Klinefelter's syndrome.
